Getting started with Facebook Messenger messages
Facebook Messenger lets you reach customers on one of the most widely used messaging platforms. With Pushwoosh, you can send Facebook Messenger messages as part of your marketing campaigns through Customer Journeys or one-time messages, using plain-text content.
What you can do with Facebook Messenger messages
Anchor link toWith Facebook Messenger in Pushwoosh, you can:
- Send promotional offers and announcements while the 24-hour messaging window is open (or with a valid message tag when Meta allows that use case).
- Notify users about order confirmations, delivery updates, or appointment reminders (often with a message tag such as POST_PURCHASE_UPDATE or CONFIRMED_EVENT_UPDATE outside the window).
- Trigger messages based on user behavior or external events.
- Use Facebook Messenger alongside other channels, such as push notifications, email, and SMS, to deliver unified, omnichannel user experiences.
Pushwoosh automatically logs PW_FBMessengerReceived and PW_FBMessengerStarted events whenever a user messages your Page. In Customer Journey Builder, use these as Trigger-based Entry events. Learn more about entry triggers

Limitations
Anchor link to- Plain text only. Facebook Messenger delivers plain text: templates, buttons, and attachments are not supported.
- 24-hour free reply window. After a user messages your Page, you can send free-form content for 24 hours.
- A message tag is required outside that window. Outside the 24-hour window, pick a message tag that matches Meta’s approved use cases, or Meta rejects the send. Pushwoosh does not independently track window state and surfaces Meta’s error when the window is closed and no tag is set.
- No per-message read status. You can’t confirm that one specific outbound Messenger message was read.
- Live sending depends on Meta App Review. The channel only delivers once Meta has approved your Meta App’s Messenger permissions for the connected Page.
