How to create a new dashboard
With the Pushwoosh Dashboard Builder, you have the flexibility to create custom dashboards tailored to your specific needs. These dashboards can be built using various data, such as trigger events, communication metrics, audience analytics, etc.
To create a new dashboard, click the Create Dashboard button located above the list of your current dashboards.
Give your dashboard a clear and descriptive name that reflects its content. This will help you find it later. Don’t worry, you can always rename the dashboard later if needed.
Then, click Create to proceed.
This will open the Dashboard Builder, where you can create custom dashboards that consist of charts containing all the necessary metrics.
How to build a chart
Each dashboard contains charts displaying various metrics, which enables you to gain a comprehensive insight into your campaign and application performance. A dashboard can have up to 10 charts.
- To add a chart, click Add Chart in the Dashboard Builder.
- In the Chart Widget that opens, provide a descriptive and clear chart name that accurately represents the data it contains. You can always edit the chart name later if necessary.
- In the Metrics section, choose the specific metrics you need to monitor. You can select up to five metrics to display in a single chart. This allows for a comprehensive view of multiple data points simultaneously.
All the metrics available are divided into three main groups:
- Communication Metrics that offer insights into the performance of various communication channels. Learn more
- Audience Metrics that provide insights into your application’s audience. Learn more
- Events Metrics that allow you to understand user behavior by examining event-related metrics. Learn more
Metric data availability intervals
The availability interval of data depends on whether filters are applied or not.
Metric group | Without filters | With filters |
---|---|---|
Communication metrics | - Hourly aggregation: 1 year - Daily aggregation: Unlimited | - Push/Email: 30 days by default. To extend storage, contact support - Campaigns: Unlimited - Segment: 40 days by default (if activated). To extend storage, contact support |
Audience Metrics | 2 years | Not applicable |
Events metrics | 1 year (including attribute filters) | - Push/Email/Campaigns: 1 year by default. To extend storage, contact support - Segment: 1 year by default. To extend storage, contact support |
You can mix and match metrics from different groups to tailor your chart to your needs.
Find a more detailed breakdown of the metrics in each group below.
- For a more detailed analysis, add filters to your chart. They are used to refine and customize the data displayed.
To add filters, first click on the Plus icon in the Filters section.
Then, select a filter from the list of filter options, including:
- Platforms: Filter data by different platforms such as iOS, Android, Xiaomi, Baidu, Huawei, etc.
- Push: Filter out metrics and events achieved with specific push notification(s).
- Email: Filter out metrics and events achieved with specific email(s).
- Segment: Filter metrics from the Communications and Events metric groups for users in the selected segments.
- Campaigns: Filter data by different campaigns (journeys).
- Aggregated Messages: Filter different aggregated messages.
Next, specify the filter criteria. For example, choose a platform or a specific push message(s) for analysis.
Finally, click Apply.
Before creating a chart with the Segment filter, ensure that you’ve recalculated the segment to obtain the most current data. To do this, click on Prepare. Please note that actual data cannot be displayed if the selected segment is not prepared.
- At the top of the page, specify the period or set a custom period. You can also specify the interval at which your data is displayed: Daily or Hourly for periods up to 30 days and Daily or Monthly for longer periods.
- Specify the Chart visualization type, which can be a line chart, a bar graph, or a pie chart.
You can also export your chart as a CSV file. To do this, click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the report.
Using metric breakdowns for detailed analysis
By default, the chart reflects data for all the metrics you’ve chosen. However, you can add metric breakdowns to get a segmented view of your data. By breaking down data, you can make more informed decisions and tailor your strategies accordingly.
To add a metric breakdown, locate the Breakdown field at the bottom of your chart and select the metrics you want to break down. Please note that a maximum of five breakdowns can be displayed at once to avoid cluttering the chart.
Breaking down metrics by platforms or attributes
Metrics can be broken down by platforms (applicable to all data) and attribute values, applicable only for events.
Example: Breakdown by platform
The following chart breaks down the PW_ScreenOpen event by platform, showing iOS, Android, Xiaomi, Baidu, and Huawei. This breakdown helps you understand how users on different platforms interact with your app. For instance, you might discover that iOS users open screens more frequently than Android users. This insight can help you prioritize features or marketing efforts for iOS to capitalize on user engagement.
Example: Breakdown by attributes
This chart displays the breakdown of the PW_ScreenOpen metric by the country attribute. It provides insights into user engagement across different regions. Analyzing these trends helps businesses customize strategies and enhance user engagement in specific locations.
Total value
You also have the option to include a total value in your chart. This helps you see the big picture of your data and provides a baseline against which individual metrics can be compared.
Managing and editing dashboards
Editing dashboards is simple; you can easily add new charts or delete existing ones. To delete a chart, click on the three dots next to the chart name and select Delete.
You can also modify the period displayed in all the charts on the dashboard.
Additionally, the charts are interactive, allowing you to hide data for specific platforms or metrics. To do this, simply click on the platform or metric at the top of the chart, and it will be hidden from view. You can easily bring it back by clicking on the metric again.
You can also adjust the size of the charts for better visibility.
Metrics to include in dashboards
Communication metrics
These metrics offer insights into the performance of your primary communication channels, including push notifications, in-app messages, and emails.
Push metrics
Push Sends | Number of push notifications sent, including to the users that have limited the display of push notifications |
Push Opens | Number of push notifications that were opened by recipients |
Push Deliveries | The number of mobile push notifications that the Pushwoosh platform has successfully transmitted to the intended recipients’ mobile devices. |
Push CTR | the percentage of users who clicked on a push notification after receiving it. The Push CTR is calculated using the formula CTR = (Number of Users Who Opened a Push / Number of Users Who Potentially Received a Push) * 100% |
Email metrics
Email Sends | The number of emails sent to recipients. |
Email Opens | The number of email recipients who opened your emails within the specified period. |
Email Deliveries | The number of emails delivered to recipients. |
Email CTR | The percentage of recipients who clicked on one or more links contained within an email. It indicates the level of recipient engagement with the email’s content and is calculated using the formula: CTR = [number of clicks / total emails sent] x 100 |
Email Hard Bounces | The number of emails not delivered because of hard bounces. A hard bounce happens when an email message can’t be delivered permanently because the recipient’s address either doesn’t exist or is invalid. |
Email Soft Bounces | The number of emails not delivered because of hard bounces. A hard bounce happens when an email message can’t be delivered permanently because the recipient’s address either doesn’t exist or is invalid. |
Email Complaints | The number of users who have reported your message as spam, informed their email service provider of their complaint regarding your email or expressed dissatisfaction in a manner recognized by email providers and clients as a reason for potentially limiting your ability to send messages. |
Email Rejects | Instances where the recipient’s email server declines to accept an email during the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) transaction. Rejections can result from reasons like authentication failure, spam filtering, or policy-based restrictions. |
Email Unsubscribes | The number of recipients followed the Unsubscribe link in that email. Such users are tagged with the True value of the Unsubscribed Emails default tag. |
In-app metrics
Impressions | The number of times the in-app message was displayed to users during the selected period. |
