Entry elements control when and how users enter a journey in Pushwoosh. Choosing the right entry type helps you reach users at the best possible moment, whether it’s in real time, at a scheduled time, or based on a specific audience. Each entry type comes with its own configuration options.
Types of entry elements
Anchor link toPushwoosh offers three types of entry elements:
Trigger-based entry
Anchor link toUse this if you want to launch a journey after a user performs a specific action, like signing up, completing a purchase, or reaching a milestone. Best for real-time, behavior-driven messaging.
Audience-based entry
Anchor link toThis method launches a journey for a predefined user segment. You can run it once, schedule it for specific dates, or set it to run periodically. Ideal for targeting users based on demographics, app usage, or imported data.
API-based entry
Anchor link toThis entry type is triggered by an external API call, enabling journeys to start based on business events outside the app, such as price changes or inventory updates. Ideal for automation and integration with external systems.
Combine entry elements
Anchor link toYou can add multiple entry elements to a journey. In this case, a user can enter the journey through any of the defined entry points. However, each user will enter the journey only once, even if they meet the conditions for multiple entry types.
For example, if you use both Trigger-based and Audience-based entries, users who match the audience segment or perform the triggering event will be included. These conditions work independently and do not need to overlap, the journey will start for all users who meet either condition.
