Customize and send a test push notification without any coding

Sending a push

Here we will show you how to send a simple test push right away. You can also experiment with push settings first (see Customizing a push).

1. Open the Pushwoosh Demo App project.

2. Make sure you've installed the Push On mobile app or set up the Push On website.

3. Click ChannelsPush Notification and select One time push:

4. On the Message tab, type the text of your push message in the text area:

Scroll to the bottom and click Woosh!

Once the push message is configured, you can save it as a Push Preset to reuse later. To learn more about Push Presets, please refer to our guide.

Well done! Your first push notification is sent. You can check its status in Message History.

If you sent a push but didn't receive it on your device, go to the Push On app, click SettingsChange Account, and re-enter your Application code. After that, try sending the push again.

Customizing a push

Personalization

You can experiment with personalization settings in the Puswoosh Demo App. However, sending personalized messages is only possible for real apps with the Pushwoosh SDK integrated.

You can modify the message content based on information known about the user: their name, preferences, location, etc. This data can be collected using Tags. Personalization will make your communications more relevant and help you increase the open rates.

Multi-language push

To improve the impact of your push messaging, talk to users in their language. Multi-language push notifications allow delivering the same message with different content depending on device locale settings.

To send a multi-language push message, click Edit languages and check the languages you want to use:

After that, fill in the text area with localized text for each language:

The default language is English. If no content for English is specified, Pushwoosh chooses a default language randomly from those that are set.

Scheduling

By default, a push will be sent once you press Woosh! at the bottom of the page. If you want to specify a send time, go to the Scheduling tab:

Here, you can set the time and date to send the push and explore other scheduling options.

Targeting & behavior-based messaging

Messages can be targeted to specific segments of your audience based on user behavior and preferences. You can use the default predefined events or create your own.

For example, you can test sending a push only to users who purchased something in the app. First open the Push On app and "purchase" any item. After that, go to the Segmentation tab, select the Purchased something segment, and click Whoosh!

If everything is done correctly, the push will be sent to your device.
